| Black Dog Timber Products utilizes timber from standing
dead coniferous trees. The trees generally have been killed by fire
or bugs, and have stood for roughly a year after the needles have
fallen off. This means the materials we work with are very dry,
reducing the amount of shrinkage in the wood.
The primary species we work with are Lodgepole Pine, Ponderosa Pine, Engelmann
Spruce, and Douglas Fir. Most of our logs have come from the Western United States and Canada. Recently, we've been able to buy a majority of our logs locally off of the 2006 Derby Fire Burn in Stillwater and Sweet Grass counties.
